Indications:

This medicine is used for the treatment of vaginal and cervical infections caused by certain microorganisms.

The indications are:

- Treatment of vaginitis and cervicitis caused by aerobic and anaerobic bacteria (including Clostridium spp.), Gram-positive or Gram-negative

- Treatment of vaginitis and cervicitis caused by Trichomonas vaginalis in association with other types of microorganisms;

- Treatment of vaginitis and cervicitis caused by Mycoplasma spp. or Chlamydia spp. in association with other types of microorganisms;

- Treatment of mycotic vaginitis caused by Candida spp. in association with other types of microorganisms;

- Treatment of mixed vaginitis caused by the association of bacteria, Trichomonas vaginalis, Candida spp and Mycoplasma spp. or Chlamydia spp;

- Prophylaxis of vaginitis and cervicitis in patients undergoing systemic treatment with immunosuppressants, cytostatics or corticosteroids and in patients undergoing radiotherapy;

- Prophylaxis of vaginitis and cervicitis in case patients are to undergo surgical or exploratory interventions in the genital area (hystero-salpingography, hydrotubation, endometrial biopsy, etc.);

- Treatment of pathogenic flora before collecting the smear for the Babeş-Papanicolau cytotest, in order to clarify the microscopic field and improve the interpretation of the cytotest;

CERVUGID ovule is indicated in adult women. If necessary, it can also be administered to adolescents.

Composition:

- The active substances are: chloramphenicol, metronidazole, nystatin, hydrocortisone acetate. Each ovule contains chloramphenicol 200 mg, metronidazole 500 mg, nystatin 660000 IU, hydrocortisone acetate 15 mg.

- The other component is Witepsol H15.

Contraindications:

Do not use Cervugid:

- if you are allergic to the active substances or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility:

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

CERVUGID ovule should not be used during pregnancy, unless your doctor considers it absolutely necessary.

CERVUGID ovule should not be used if you are breast-feeding. If your doctor considers that starting treatment is absolutely necessary, breast-feeding will be discontinued.

Method of administration:

Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

If you think that the effect of treatment with CERVUGID is too strong or too weak, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

CERVUGID is administered vaginally. The ovule is inserted deep into the vagina, while you are lying down.

The usual dose is one CERVUGID ovule per day, administered in the evening, before going to bed. The duration of treatment is 12 days.

In the case of ulcerated cervicitis, the treatment will be repeated 1-2 times, until healing, with a 7-day break between administration periods.

In the case of cervicitis and vaginitis accompanied by severe inflammatory diseases of infectious cause (pelvic congestion, metronidazole, pelviperitonitis), your doctor may recommend that you associate CERVUGID with antibiotics administered systemically.

CERVUGID has no relevant use in children.

If administration is necessary in adolescents, the doses are the same as in adult women.

The duration of treatment with CERVUGID will be established by your doctor depending on the periodic assessment of the improvement of the condition being treated.
